[PJBH PRKSB ASSOCIATION ] AN AKAUOA -MADMAN. CHRLSTCIJt'KOH, This Day. Jolm Hitchcock, single, aged 41, was brought to the hospital yesterday from Akaroa with a severe gash in liis throat. His condition is very dangerous. It was reported that the ease was one oi' attempted suicide, but further inquiries revealed a sensational story Hitchcock bad been staying with his 6ister at Akaroa, and it is reported they went for a walk at Graham Valley, when Hitchcock suddenly drew n razor and attacked his sister, who protected herself with her hands, a n<l sustained severe gashos. Hitchcock then attempted to throw her on the ground. !>u she eventually got free and sought assistance from a neighbour, and the police wore summoned. Hitchcock was found lying on the ground, unconscious, with a gash in liis throat, and was brought to Chrlstclmreh in a motor car. It is understood Hitchcock has been suffering From insomnia.
