Otaki Hospital.
IS IT MALIGNED? Recent criticisms on Otaki Hospital have moved the Mail to make a spirited defeuce of the local institution. In concluding its article, the Mail says:—The following figures also show tho annual expenditure per occupied bed for the three years ending March 31st, 1912, for hospitals of tho same class as Otaki
£ B Stratford ... 161 2 Otaki ... 143 9 I'icton ... 159 5 North Wairoa ... 180 5 Patea ... 168 1 Wairoa ... 151 5 Pahiat.ua ... 153 o Naseby ... 169 1 Wakatipu ... 140 4 Coromandel ... 247 9 The above figures give conclusive proof that tho Otaki Hospital illicit a costly institution; indeed, it shows that it is one of the mowt economically managed throughout the dominion, and those responsible for the administration havo every reason to be well pleased with the results. We could commend those who have misrepresented the true position as regards the local hospital to carefully peruse the figures quoted above, and to be sure of their boPore making disparaging remarks about tho Otaki Hospital in the future.
