I A cablegram received from Sydney to-day states that MaJbcl' •Springfield swam a mile (in fresh water) in 32min Bsec—thus beating Amiette KeTlerman's record of 33 minutes 49 seconds. Yesterday, in Melbourne, the Hon. V. M. B. Fisher, New Zealand Minister for Customs, had a further interview -with the Hon. Mr Tudor regarding tariff preference, but nothing definite was achieved. The negotiations will be resumed Monday.
