CORRESPONDENCE
(Our correspondents' opinions are their own; the responsibility of tho editorial ones makes sufficient ballast for the Editor's TRIUMPH OF INDIVIDUALISM. (To the Editor.) Sir.—l nni sure that eVeryone in this district will feel proud of tho success of Mr Hall's ducks and Mr Li'ger's liens at tho rocont egglaying competition, and hope that their skill in improving the egglaying capacity of poultry will meet with a huge financial reward. And is it not pleasing to know. Mr Editor, that under our. present system of individualism and business, competition the best men come out on top; whereas had tho socialists and syndicalists "taken possesson of the earth," and the means of production, a capable man like Mr Lcgcr would, perhaps, bp merely a drab unit in a State fowl-yard, where men and hens alike were doing the "socialistic stroko," and where- it was everybody's business and nobody's business: n system under which the man with tho loudest_ voico and sharpest elbows would be on top. This poultry competition shows the advantage of the present system, •where everyone is sure of a cash reward for any-service'io tho State. 7-. Yours, etc.. H. B. FRANCE.
