Hitchings, llankins and Co., Ltd.,. general and produce merchants, iwne and spirit merchants, etc., have Inul their building considerably altered and enlarged, and many improvements have been effected. They nave been to considerable expense to make it the most up-to-date buildroom, on the bond room, and the tit ions have been pulled down, and doors made so that everything is easy to get at and everything is close at hand.

Hi tellings. Hankins .and Co., Ltd... have installed a hydraulic lilt, capable of lilting a weight of threequarters of n ton. This can bo used to loan heavy stuff on a cart, and also to take buyers >and visitors to the top storey, where there are three commodious rooms. One is the seed room, one the bond room, and the third is the landing room for goods brought up by the lift. On the ground floor are situated three moIMI large rooms' ami the office. Til one of these the chaff is stacked ; the room can accommodate up to thirty tons of chaff. The other two rooms are for store rooms for everything that may be 011 hand. The exterior of the building ha* been newly painted and decorated, and altogether the alterations effected liavo given to Queen street and its vicinity a greatly improved abearance.
