QUARTERLY CIRCUIT MEETING
Levin-Otaki Circuit quarterly meeting was held at Manakau last evening, .and was attended by the representatives from Levin, Manakau, Otaki and To Horo, tho .Rev. T. V. Jones presiding. Mr Costain, who is entering the Home Mission work on the Main Trunk Line, was also present and wa.s welcomed by the chairman. The balance-sheet for the northern end of the circuit showed that the receipts had exceeded the expenditure and the credit balance was sligtly increased. In the Otaki division of the Circuit there was a substantial credit balance of £16, CIO of which wa.s voted to the new parsonage fund. Mr W. G. Kirk reported on Sunday School work generally, and emphasised the importance of getting the children interested in foreign mission work. Mr I'enn gave the meeting informal ion as to the erection of the new parsonage at Otaki, which is well under way. and (should be finished when tho Rev. H. Cottom arrives. The (|iiesLion of progressive work in the neighbourhood of Levin was le.l'l to the Levin trustees, with power to act: and for securing a church site at Manakau the Minister of the Circuit and Messrs Penn and Kemp were appointed a committee to take the necessary steps when opportunity arises. The Circuit's rcpVesontative to the recent conference in Wellington gave a brief inccount <jf its work, and was thanked for his services. The meeting placed on record its regard for tho woirk done by Mr R. B. Spiers, of the Auckland Training College, during his stay of some six months in the Circuit. On the .motion of {he Circuit Stewards the meeting unanimously carried a vote of hearty appreciation of the services of the Rev. T. f\ Jones. ,as superintendent of tho Circuit fnr the past five yeans, flnd tendered to him and Mrs Jones its best wishes for success and happiness in their next sphere of labour. Tho Rev. Mr Jones, in reply, thanked the meeting for its murk of appreciation, and expressed his indebtness to the officials of the church who had worked loyally with him. He hoped that great good would come to the Ci/r----cuit under his successor, the Rev. Win. Tinsley.
