MEETING OF LEVIN OOUNCI Tho Mayor (Mr B. 11. Gardeni presided over last night's meeting tho Levin Borough Council. T councillors present were Messrs S. Lancaster, 11. Prouse. H. France, M. Fosella, F. E. Parker, . Matheson. Leave of absence ~ w granted to Councillors Blenkho and Hannan. "A FLAW IX THE VAX." Regarding tho failure ol' the wat meter at the Boys' Training Fan the Mayor reported that Mr Clim (consulting engineer) had reportt that probably the meter Mas dai: aged owing to a defect in it. The Town Clerk reported that -A Climio proposed to write to tl agents of tho linn on this matte, and lie was of opinion that if thei was found to lie an actual flaw tli firm would make the loss good. Further concerning the matte Major Uurlinson. manager of tli Boys' Training Farm, suggested th council should consent to paymen ol an annual fixed rate in lion o supply by meter. On the motion <if the .Mayor, sec ondod hv Councillor Parker, ih council resolved, "That the counci cannot consider the proposal of thi malinger of the Boys' Training Fnrn to dispense with the water meter being of the opinion, .after consults tion with Mr Cliniie. its engineer that the accident to the meter pai was not caused by an excessive flow but probably by a flaw in the construction of the pan.
