It \\ atehed with intorest throughout and the fact of tho plot running . and around tho world-famous Notre Dame lent added interest to a famous picture. The supporting Alms were also pleasing. At a meeting of the Lovin tfulwol committee, held in tho schoolroo m last night, it was decided to try to get another carrier to undertake to carry the school children betwaeJ Lovin and Porotawhau. One man
had been aproached by the committee, but had asked for £3 per week, ■and tho committee had notbpen able to givo this as the Education Board only allowed sixpence per head, and
the. committee ha<l had to mako up tho balance of the ton shillings per day practically out of their oiv r. funds. It was suggested that the committee approach the parents ,1 the children and see if they would give anything towards running a coach out there, hut it was pointed out that the parents of tho Kimheiley road children had been approached in the same way, and they would not give anything, and now the chil dren had to ride or come in por boot It was finally decided to offer th • work to some suitable man at TOs per day for all days that school is held. No doubt some philanthropist
will be found to do the work, Fut it is a pity that the parents couTd not see tbeir' way clear to help the committee and their own children, seeing that the children must get to school in some way. If there fs a coach running it saves the trouble of getting them a horse to ride, and in a coach tho children are protected from the weather,
