[rUU I'RKOS ASSOCIATION. J ALLEGED PEKJUIIY. TAHJATUA, February 20. Three young meiij by tho names or Farrcll, Walter Hirst, and George Gregory, farmers at Konini, were charged yesterday, before Sir Poynton, S.AI., with committing perjury in a local court case in January. The charge arose out of a case, wherein Farrell was fined by Mr Reid, S.M.. for assaulting a chinaman named Wong Jack. Hirst and Gregory wore witnesses on that occasion, for the defence. Both Farrell ami Hirst swore they were never in tlie Chinaman's shop, , and that Farrell never assaulted tho Chinaman. The charge against Gregory was dismissed, but Furrel and.Hirst, who pleaded not guilty, were committed for trial nt Masterton Supreme Court Bail was allowed.
Mr F. C. Hotter, of Kawiu road, hiiis had an unusually heavy crop of potatoes this year. They wore "The Northern Star," and Mr Rettur got as many as thirty four potatoes of good eatable size from one root. They were particularly free from Wight.
