Coronation Swimming Club.
iSI'tOBSSLaJL SPQH.T.S AT JJSVIX. The executive of the Coronation Swimming Club is to be heartily congratulated on tho result of the sports held by the club yesterday at the Levin Maths. A west wind blew a trifle coldly, but the public proved courageous and fairly crowded the baths, while those hardy women and men who wero entered for the races all bore their parts well and kept the onlookers interested throughout. Quito a number of exciting finishes wore witnessed, the greatest of all being that between Froyborg airl Hilfion in the 220 yards event. Hilson showed a rare turn of speed, and though not in good condition for racing ho struggled on bravely to the end. Freyberg. who was giving away starts ranging from twelve seconds to forty, swam in fine stylo, and succeeded in defeating by a touch (Hilson's handicap was 29sec) after overhauling him in the last half-dozen yards of the race. Neill's 50 yard dash was a good sprint, and another good contest was seen in the ladies' race, for which a large entry was received. Tho Misses Cork divided the chief honours. In tho boys' relay race two teams from the Boys' Training Farm ended a dead heat, after a most exciting struggle, with Levin public school team not far behind. Some funny water fooling was done by Messrs Hankins, .Smith, Prouso an.! Scott. Afternoon tea was dispensed to the puhlic free of charge, and tho proceedings wero further enlivened by tho excellent music of tho brass hand from tho Boys' Training Farm, Weraroa. Tho arrangements of tho secretary (Mr S. Brewster) and his committee of willing assistants all worked out well, and the afternoon's sport was successful both financially and from a sports point of view. RESULTS: •j0 Yards (men's).— J. (J.
