TO-NIGHT'S FILM DRAMA.. "Dearly Purchased Friendship" the title of the picture drama to pourtrayed at the King's Theatr Levin, this evening. it is by tl Nordisk Company. The synopj runs:—"Lieutenant Udo makes close friend of Ralph Kerkshak who is a spendthrift and gambl? He lends him money to get him 01 of trouble on condition that ho ne er gambles again. Ralph, howeve soon succumbs to temptation, ai having lost a very largo sum, d cides to mark the cards to retri his losses. Udo discovers this, ar keeps one of tho cards, decidir not to expose his friend. Ralp wins heavily, and pays off his deb with the proceeds, at the same tirr offering Udo the money ho lias bo: rowed from him. Udo, Icnowin whero it has come from, refuses '1 Ralph meets with an accident, an has to return home for the manoei vres, and Udo writes to his fiannc suggesting she should try and mak things brighter for him. She doe so, and Ralph, thinking sho is i love with him, endeavours to kis her, and on Udo's return tells h«r he is about to become engaged t Alice. A quarrel ensues, and Ralp] endeavours to make his friend figh a duel with him. Alice discov.v the proofs of his duplicity, and a the very moment when her lover I about to be branded as a coward produces tho marked card, clea'\ her lover, and brings about tin downfall of Ralph, who is given r rtvolver by tho President of "-he Court of Honour and told "to do bis duty."
