( A <«se from Shannon side heard in the S.M. Court. Levin, on Thursday afternoon, was that of James 'MctDormott v. Alfred Coy. Plaintiff claimed .I'd 2s, being three days' haymaking at 10s per day and three days' work at concrete-laying and ibrickmakiiig at lu's a day. PlainitilT (cross-examined by Mr Blenkhorn) said ho did not tell Coy he ' would charge him l(3s per day, but he valued his labour at that price, and charged for it accordingly. There was no agreement. "Was certain nothing was said to him hy Mrs Coy about his wages being 2os per week and his food. "Don't you believe it; I leave it to his Worship!" dramatically concluded' the plaintiff. Martha Coy gave ovidence that plaintiff told her he was looking for f. haymaking job. She put a few questions to him. and finally told him his wages would be 25s a week. (Plaintiff: "That's wrong!") The brickwork plaintiff claimed for was the filling-up of two holes near the homestead. Also he did some work near the homestead; he took up a Letter floor than he put down, witness considered, and sho told hei husband so. John Smith, employed by defendant, gave evidence confirmatory of Mrs Coy's regarding plaintiff's engagement iand work. After M<-Dorniott had been there six days lie told Coy he was going. Tt was raining .at the time, and Coy said "No. you stay and finish the stack." McDermolt refused. He said nothing about wages. Alfred Coy deposed thiat MoDcrmott was engaged at 25s per week, by witness's wife. Judgment was given for the amount paid info court (255). "Tf you knew as much about this case as T do. your worship, you would know ji lot and. think differently," was the plaintiff's parting shot at the defendant.
