The action of the butchers has raised considerable bitterness towards them from those engaged in other brandies of the works. GISBORNE, February 2. Considerably over 100 sheep-fa nn•rs. including some of the most prominent in Poverty Hay, met on (Saturday in connection with the slaughtermen's dispute. An official announcement to the press was made as follows:— "That the sheep fanners of this district are unanimous to .stand by the companies through thick and thin, and they will see that labour is forthcoming should it be required. Several names of men willing to 'lr> duty at the killing board is require , ! were handed in." The names were those of station hands, said to lie adept with the knife.
