SENSATIONAL AFFAIR IN LKYIN. Revolver shots, followed by loud exclamations in a man s voice, alartned the dwellers in York street. Levin, last <'veiiing. shortly alter 8 o'clock. A resident, of the street, .John Whelan. suspected that matters at his home were not as they should bo. Ho saw a man whom ho know arrive in Levin bv train from Wellington hist night, and take a vehicle for the north end of the town. "Whelan followed at; soon as ho could, and on .arriving homo found the man in a li'ont 'bedroom. The man ran out. and 'Whelan fired at him. The outcries that followed made the neighbours think that murder had been done, hut it seems now that they were uttered "by "Wholan himself, in regret born of his desperate iact. However, the shots missed their mark, and no bodily injury resulted. f l ho police arrested "Wliclfin. and ho will bo charged this afternoon with having discharged a revolver witli intend to do bodily harm.
