HOIIOWHEN.UA A. AiND P. ASSOCIATION. AIIIIANGING THE PIIELIMINAIIIES. A geuoral mooting of tho executive committco in connection with tho above association was held in tho Druids' HaTl last Friday evening, the president (Mr John Kebbell) in tho chair. Correspondence was received from the following: The Prime Minister (Hon. "W. F. Massey) re opening of show; Mr Jas. Drysdale, judging; iMr G. Davison, amateur band; r T. IC. Colpman, cattle classes; Mr D. H. Rail, hon. veterinary surgeon. Tli ere was other correspondence of a detail nature. On the motion of tho president, seconded bv Mr J. Da vies, tho following motion of condolence was passed "That the committee of the Horowhenua A. and P. Association respectfully desires to express its sincere sympathy to Mrs John Saxon and family in the loss they have sustained by the death of the late Mr Saxon, and that the association places on record the valuable services rendered to the association by the deceased gentleman." On the motion of Mr J. Ivebbell, seconded by Mr J. Da vies, it was decided that the disposal of "privileges" lie left in the hands of Messrs Richards, Roe, D. Hannan and tho secretary. Proposed by Mr -Davies and seconded by Mr'o. Saxon: "That Mr D. H. Rail, of Palmorston North, he appointed hon. veterinary surgeon to the association." Proposed by Mr Gillies seconded by Mr F. 0. Smith: "That the appointment of the following judges he confirmed:— "Competition and light horses, Mr .T. Coombes, Waitotora ; draughts and heavy horses, Mr H. J. .Booth, Feilding; dairy cattle and purebreds, Mr Kyle, Palinerston North; fat cattle and fat sheep, Mr A. E. Gadsby, Lower Hutt; farmers' classes and purebred sheep, Mr E. Short, Feilding.' On the motion of Mr G. 31. Burlinson, seconded by Mr F. 0. Smith, it was decided that Messrs H. J. Richards and Jas. Prouse be appointed to confer with Mr J. Drysdale for the purpose of drawing up conditions regarding amateur judging and selecting the classes, also to instruct tho secretary to invite nominations for same: and also that Mr Drysdale be thanked for his suggestion and donation of C 2 2s towards the prizes for this class. 011 the motion of the president, seconded by Mr Richards, it was decided to ask for tho services of the Boys' Training Farm band to act in conjunction with the Levin brass band on show day, January 29th. The offer of tho Levin brass band to play free of charge on the show grounds on the day appointor! for the show was accepted with thanks. LIST OF STEWARDS.
