George Allington, of Rangiora, who died yesterday at the age of 83, was associated with Joseph Arch (the groat farmer reformer) in the movement for the improvement of the conditions of agricultural labourers in England. He camo to New Zealand in 1885. DEVGNPORT MYSTERY. AUCKLAND, December 30. Information so far resulting from the police inquiries touching the romarkable letter received at tho Devonport police station on Saturday shows that a man named J. J. Burrows lias been missing for some time. Tho letter was signed "J. J. Burrows," and stated that tho writer was starving on Christmas Day because he could get no work. It has been ascertained that a man named J. J. Burrows, who is a clerk by occupation, has been missing from his boarding-houso in Picton street, Ponsonby, for iabout six weeks.
