Boy's Training Farm.

One ol the most interesting features at the Summer Show in connection with the Levin Horticultural Sm-P'ty V'a.s display ,)|' uselul and fancy work by the boys of Clematis Cottage, which is in charge of .Mrs W. .1. Williams. The articles weii.' >ct out to iniK'li advantage in an annexe, ami ivero under the su]>■ >rvisi<lll ef Mr W. J. Williams. Without exception, it imiy he said tho wink was of an extremely creditaide nature, and reflected the greatest cn-dit' on Mrs Williams and her pupils. It was evident that they had been skilfully taught, and that: they had carefully assimilated their teaching. As showing the diversity of the work the hoys are taught, it may he mentioned that anions the ■articles displayed were dainty evelet cloths, linen table centres, table centres of canvas embroidery, ivory canvas cushions. Holland splash mats, . fancy waist coasts. Tenoriffe cushions, tea cosoys and a number of strong. w>arm men's and hoys' shirts. A special feature of tho display was a pair of bod hangings (Viarued not") made by A. TCoss. The work was of high order of merit .and won tho warm approval of the general public, who expressed high admiration at all that they saw. To show what tho lads can do in tho nay of carpentering, the Training Farm authorities exhibited a "monk's bench" with o-arponterv work done in relief. This was really splendidly carved bv -T. Hammond and made by Mr J. Scott, under immediate direction of Mr .'lamieson, the capable and painstaking carpenter. The vegetable display, on account of tho wet weather, was limited ill its proportion, hut whnl, was shown wias of toit good quality. A number of bottles of preserved vegetables. by Mrs McOorinack, looked exceedingly templing. Mr Williams had on exhibition a number of photographs of the farm .and its buildings, his most recent exposure showing the estate under the recent snow fall. Altogether the bovs' display reflected tho standard of high merit that characterises each department at the Training Farm.
