"Rotten, slinky bridge," said the English tourist to the American engine driver. The two men stood beside the engine and surveyed the trestle bridge just beyond the depot. "X guess the directors find it cheaper in the long run," said the railway man. "You do a lot of guessing here, don't you? How do you feel about taking your train over these bridges?" "Wal," said the driver, "wo guess shess carry us this trip. Sometimes we guess ourselves into tho depot. and sometimes wo guess ourselves to 'tarnation smash.' "
