GORE, September 'Jfi. Ihe heavy rain which began on Saturday at midday descended almost continuously for 30 hours. The Matiauru River and the district streams overflowed tlio bands and spread over a large arm of low-ly-ing country. At Mandeville the Waimea stream spread over a mile of country with the result a number »f sheep were drowned. The aikaia Miaikaka and Miniihau streams are in flood, and parts of Wyndham township are flooded, several bouses being surrounded with uatei. 1 lie waters, however, are now receding.
