a—.— ATTEMPT TO WALK 48,000 MILES IN FOUR YEARS. A walking tour of 48,000 miles round the world in forty-eight months is the task which the "Kelsey Kids" (Mr and Mrs Harry Humphries), of New York ,hav© set themselves. They started from New York in July of this year and have i already toured 1000 miles of the j United .States, 1500 miles of Can- ' ada, 275 miles of Labrador, and j 1100 of Newfoundland. j With his wife, a fair, fluffy-haired i wo in nil with a bright, laughing face, !Mr Humphries arrived in London. | "The round-the-world walk is for a ! wager," said Mr Humphries. "We I are to take no money except Tor Bouvenir postcards of ouirselves. We must not accopt rides and will receive £2000 from the Polo Magaziue on our return if the journey is completed according to the terms. "The tour is really the test of a woman's endurance, for a- similar feat has never been attempted by a woman. My wife is standing the | strain of the journey splendidly. jWe are practically vegetarians, but | sometimes we have been hard pres- | sod for food."
