Rev. D. C. Bates' weather forecast states that present indications are for moderate southerly winds backing to westerly and northerlies after _ about sixteen hours, nnc! increasing everywhere. Astridge has resigned the position of permanent secretarv of T.pval Victoria Diamond Lndgo of the Oddfellows (M.U.) after some fourteen years service, during which time he performed excellent work for the Order. A southern correspondent writes anent tho boycott which is alleged to have Jbecn put in force by a few persons in Levin as a result of the success of Mr Robertson at the polls. He says that "while things are bad in Levin," tliey are wtorse in Otaki. There, shopkeepers, he alleged, have actually refused to serve people who are known to have voted for Mr Robertson. Our correspondent goes on to assert that free fights have taken place among shopkeepers in Shannon, and he adds that his travels of late have shown him that there is a want bf common charity throughout the electorate. Mushrooms are being gathered both in the Otaki and Manawatu districts at present. To-day is pay-day at the Levin and Shannon dairy factories, and some substantial rheques are to be handed over to the principal suppliers. At both factories the total supply for the season exceeds all previous records for tlie same period. Shannon's total pay-out for the four weeks ended to-day approximates £2500. The annual meeting of the Loyal Victoria Diamond Lodge of Oddfellows (M.U.) was held last evening, Bro. Lovejoy, N.G., in tho chair. Tlie following officers were elected:—N.G., Bro. A.
