GRAIN QUOTATIONS.
Both oats and wheat have been through! a particularly dull period lately; very few operations have taken place'; Supplies of both milling wheat and oats are very small, and as millets are able to keep off the markeb no operations of any dimensions have resulted. It is reported that even were buyers anxious to operate largely the.wlheat is not available in large parcels. Quotations, -nominal, milling 4s to* 4s Id per bushel, f.o.b. South. Fowl wheat is very short of supply, and is expected .to keep steady at 3s 9Jd to 3s iDd f.o.b. South. Oats are ruling at 3s 3?, d to 3s 4d f.o.b. South for A grade. Gortons and B grade at a halfpenny less. General reports from the South' indicates a very small stock, and unless Australian can come en the market the ■position is not likelv to be influenced to a lower level. Maize is in nrood demand and. the market is ste.odiy. Tlie quality is frenernlly reported as ■very satisfactory. LEVIN WOOL. SKTN AND HIDE SALE. Hitehings. Hanking and Co.. Ltd.. report as followsAt our usual monthly sale, held on Thursday last, we submitted an nvoraco catalogue comprising 60 bales and fadges wool, 900 sheenskins. 300 ihides. 3 casks and 20 tins tallow. Wo are pleased to report that the general tone of the market is much firmer than it has been for seme considerable time, and prices showed an increase all* round ; tins was especially noticeable in respect to hides and calfskins ; for prime lines of calf as high as lOld was realised, whieih 1 is a record for the sensnn : medium ox in good demand at 7d per lb. . We quote as follows:— WOOL.—Medium crossbred, 73d to 8s; coarse do.. Okl, G?d to 7d; dead wool, s?d. fi I ,d to G^d; pieces, 4d. 43d. s*d to SJ-d.

Messrs Abraham awl Williams, Limited, report: At our Palmerston North' sale, held ,on Wednesday the 13th. inst.. we yarded 700 sheep and 1,000 bead of cattle. - All clashes of stock met with a keen demand, and we have to report a total clearance under the hamincr.' with tbe exception of one small pen of cattle. The 700 bead of. cattle yarded oft account of -Mr J. Barker, of Porangahau, were a particularly good lot. and sold at prices in excess of valuations.
