THE LABOUR CANDIDATE.
To the Editor. Sir, —I wonder is half the people who attended the Druids' Hall meeting on Saturday night realised the -full meaning of what John Robertson said regarding every man and woman voting on. local Government matters. T. went to hod ifnat. night, aiid, like Jolin of old, I had' a dream : I saw John Robertson elected M.P. for Otaki; I saw the union secretary take his seat in the House; I saw 'him smashing every monopoly like the late Carrie Nation smashed the saloons in America; I saw him introduce and put through, his Local Government Amendment Rill; and I saw Shannon (that boasts of its lonrates) with its up-to-date drainage scheme, gasworks, municipal hall, municipal milk depot and wood and coal yards- for the "wackers" ; municipal gardens, baths, hotels, etc.; I saw tire bona fide residents groaning under the high, rates and taxes while the irresponsible, improvident, neer-do-wells walked the streets boasting of the way they had,- made iilie town go ahead. And yet stone of the farmers are going to vote for John. —Yours, etc., SURPRISED. i
