"A MUDDLED PRODUCT."
To the Editor
Sir,—My notice was directed by a mend to an effusion appearing in your columns of the 25th inst. over nom d® phime "An Incorruptible One. On glancing through hTiia supposed-to-be-letter, and seeing now the writer h : ad jumbled up the tense and mixed and distorted metaphor and simile, one felt that he was engrossed in the efforts of a Socrates. However, if the mind of An incorruptible One" can be guaged by this muddled product, lam sure that it is to he regretted that ihe witliheld his name, and so deprived the public the of defying this God of intellect. To follow in the wake of "Incorruptible s" reasoning, i n as much as ho holds that "full grain is husks, rmd maturity nothingness" and so forth, the deduction can be mads that his bram is putrid matter. His letter is drivel from beginning x to end, making but one concrete, though absurd, statement, and that to the further exposition of this master of intellect. The statement referred to was Mr Brown's supposed-to-be promise to use his endeavours, if elected, to get a siding put in near Maksruk- Oh, poor puerile and feeble minded "Incorruptible," ho w-he is to be pitied! Would he hold MiBrown in earnest if in answer to a question Mr Brown told him he was clever? Nb, sir; Mr Brown was piny nig the questioners at their own ® ame > aQ d if "an Incorruptible One's" interpretation of the answer is anything to go by Mr Brown won. Tt seems to me, sir, that the sum total of "An Incorruptible One's" griovnnce is probably due to the fact that Mr Brown champions the "Trade." Yes; and probably Byron Brown, with his customsry benevolence. has unintentionally hurt "Incorruptible'*'' finer feelings by asking him to hnvr> a wine. Mr "An Incorruptible One" refers to Mr Massey as "our" leader. In the event of Mr Monckton not bein.f in the second ballot- ('which seems I wonder if "Incorruptible" will support the unofficial Opposition candidate? As for ByronBrown becoming Premier, in this i agree with "An Incorruptible One," being of the opinion that the possibility is as remote as that of ' Incorruptible" ever .oconirmg tho oroT'a<re amount of intelligence.—'7o'ir«. etc., M ANA KA IT MXTTOB.
