The response to a :ircul •• inviting such, of the men of Masterton as were favourable .o the restoration of licensee to attend a meeting was that a large and representative meetin-T u-ns held last evening in Murrnv'o Ha.'l, when the following α-esolutions were unanimously earned: (1) That those present are of opinion that No-license ih as proved a failure, and tluit oteps 1)8 taken to have the licenses restored in Masterton electoi-ato; { 2) That in tho event of restoration heing carried it will rest entirely with the people themselves how hotels shall be conducted. They have the privilege of •sleeting a Licensing .Committee, and if Krat privilege is judiciously exercised they surely can rely on the bench to. see that the Licensing Act is strictly enforced, and that only capable men or wo* men of the highest character «rd permitted to conduct hotels. A strong committee of business men was also elected to promote the objects of the meeting in its endeavour to gain restoration for iriV.-e Masterton electorate. ■mm iiimitoit m>!^
