(PIR PREBB ASSOCIATION.;] MASTERTON, November 21. At a public meeting at the Mastortou Town Hall to-night addressed by tlie Bw. 11. S. Gray of Cliristchureli, a resolution' alleged to have been passed by. business men to the effect that no-license in Masterton had been a failure, was tvaI versed by the chairman and the I Rev. R, S. Gray. The names of 1 the persons responsible for the resolution were read from the platI form, and it was asserted that five [out of the eight signatories to the circular containing" the resolution were those of persons interested financially and otherwise- in the trade. At a meeting of the Masterton Borough Council to-night the following resolution was carried, nem con: "That this council emphatically protests against the unfair .and malicious attempts made by a. section of the public (vide Evening Post advertisement under date November 2nd) to damage the credit of our town, such statements being contrary to fact, and_ further, we are satisfied fcuat business people recognise that fina.neially and commerciallv M aster ren never held a firmer position."
