Levin Borough Council.
_$ STOCK ON THE EOADS. The ordinary meeting of the Levin [ Borough Council was held last e fining, at the Council Chambers, Oxford street. The Mayor (Mr B. R. Gardener) presided, and tho following members wore present: Crs. j Lancaster, Prouse, France, Foseila. Parker. Matheson, Areus, Hannan, and Blenkhorn, with Mr P. W. Goldsmith (Town Clerk). CHRISTMAS DAY PICTURES. A letter was received from the Shell Picture Company applying for permission to run a picture show on the evening of the 2nth of December in one of the Levin public halls. The entertainment would be of an , educational char-actor, and pictures would relate to Biblical scenes of travel and of a dramatic nature. All comedy would be left out. There was no opposition to the application. TYNE STREET CULVERT. The district engineer to the "New Zealand Railways wrote: In reply to your letter ol the 9th inst., I have to inform yon that when I met the Jeputation at Tyne street the question of a small culvert was' raised in connection with filling pn> posed, and it was distinctly stated that the water could bo led along parallel to the road and need hot cross near the railway at all. Nevertheless I have arranged to lengthen the culverts sufficiently for the filling. lam not prepared to lower them unless at the cost of the Borough Council. The following resolution was adopted on the motion of Cr Lancaster, seconded by Cr. Prouse: That the Tjorough take the necessary steps to place eight inch, pipes under Tyne street on the eastern side of the ■railway line at a sufficient depth to drain all the water-holes there. BOYS' TRAINING FARM. A letter was received from Mr Olimie, engineer to the waterworks, stating the quantity of pipes ana fittings necessary for the extension of the system to the Boys' Training Farm. The letter was received. THE LIBRARY. Miss Emma Palmer was appointed assistant iibrarian and oaretakor to the library. It was decided that the library be opened on Monday, November 29, and that Mr Field be asked to declare the building open. CR. FOSELLA. Tho Mayor, during the meetHg, welcomed Cr. Fofinlln as a new member of the Council. He said that he was very pleased to see I im taking an ective interest in the municipal aSairs of the borough, fle was sure he had the interests of vhe town at heart and would do all ho could to promote its welfare. (Applause.) Cγ. Lancaster remarked that . ho had known Mx Fosella for over 20 years. He was an old 6ettler and, he was pleased to see him there that day. Cγ. Fosel'-x thanked the Mayor and councillors for their kind welcome, and s>aid that he had al.vays tried to do hi? duty. (Applause^

Arcus seconded, the following reso-•-lution, which was adopted: That the ranger be asired not to impound stock from off the borough roads between 6 a.m. +Rom November £2 to December 9th.
