Letters and telegrams of congratulation to Mr Monckton rogai'ding ■his recent speech -at Levin have been received duriii" , the last few days. There were eight telegrams and many letters. Mr Monckfcon desires to convey to the senders 'his sincere thanks for their kindly .sentiments and expressions of goodwill.
Mr C. A. AV. Moncktan, Reform candidate, spoko at Waihonga on "Wednesday night.. The candidate s|)oke a.t some length, and received a very attentive hearing. Mr Ferguson proposed a vote of thanks and confidence, nnd on behalf of the meeting wished Mr Monckton success at tilio polling booth. The proposition was earned with acclamation. Mr Monckton also spoke m the schoolhouse, Koputaroa, on Friday night. His address was very much on tire samp lines as tho Levin spaeeh. Between seventy and eighty people were present, and with one exception were evidently in sympathy with the candidate's views. Letters of regret for non-attendance were received from several farmers in the vicinity, including Mr J. Davics, and we are informed- that the writers «U \yished Mr Monckton success on election day. Votes of thanks and confidence to the speaked and thanks to the chair brought a very successful meeting to a close.
