Aii Opposition rally was held in Palmerston jWrth last night, to mark the anniversary of the formation of the Political Reform League. Several members of Parliament were present. and there was a very large -public attendance. Mr Mnssey (Leader of t'lio Opposition), Mr P. P. Martin (its organiser), and Messrs Nowmail, Scott, Guthrie and Buick, M.P.'s, delivered addresses.

/ At the Levin Borough Council last evening tlio Town Clerk reported that the resignation of Cr. Mackenzie took effect as from the Ist inst.. and ho had also received the resignation of Cr. Palmer, to take effect fi'om the 3rd inst.. The tender of JVfv Hockley, of Palmerston North (£517) for the construction of baths, was confirmed. Details of the council meeting will appear in to-morrow's Chronicle.
Despite counter attractions, there was a large audience in the ]<ovin Town Hall last evening, when the Shell Pictures again appeared. It says n- great deal for the pictures that each time the company appears it. is welcomed by an enthusiastic audience. Last night's chief attraction was the problem play " Patricia, of the Plains," and the audience wa.s greatly delighted with the pictures. The great industrial strikes gave a very effective idea of the recent upheaval in the industrial world in England. The comic element was well sustained, and altogether the audience went away thoroughly satisfied with a rare treat. The operator carried out his duties with excellent results. To-night the company appears at Shfinnon.
