[I'EK PHEBB AEBOOUTION.]

AUCKLAND, October 2. John Brooks, a cabman, wa.s arrested to-day on a charge of endeavouring to persuade a woman named Minnie Whittinghain to give false evidence at the tfial of Mrs o'iShaughnessy in the Kingsland ease.

Mrs Whittinglliam was one of the witnesses summoned on behalf of the prosecution.

It is likely that another similar charge will be laid.
