A PROSPEROUS CONCERN
The annual meeting of the Shannon Dairy Company was held at Shannon on Wednesday. The report stated tihat it was expected that the returns for the coming year would he even better than the past, as the directors had arranged for the consignment of the season's output on a,n advance considerably in advance of that of last year. The quality of butter manufactured during the season had been of superfine quality, ■and the reports from tlhe graders in Wellington and from the Home agents had been most satisfactory. For a considerable time during the export season the butter graded from 94 to 95 points. Suppliers delivered 306,897 lbs of butter fat, for which they received £14,354, and 158 tons of butter were manufactured. The average test for the season vras 3.86. The balance of profit and loss account, after providing for all working expenses, was £373; this with tlie balance brought forward from la-st year, £966, made the substantial sum of £1340. From this sum £340 7s lOd for depreciation had been written off and the 'balance of £999 12s 7d would be dealt with as follows, viz.:—By payment of a dividend of 6 per cent, on the paid-up capital of the company, and carrying the balance forward. The retiring directors, Messrs W. E. Barber and H. Eastwood were re-elected, and Mr T. Bowo was elected to tOio vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr E. Rush-ton. The secretary was voted a bonus of £20, and his salary was raised by £20 per annum.
