"THE SPORT OF KINGS."
To the Editor. iSir,—Too much criticism has been passed upon the Racing Commis.junert- in the wiping out of certain racing clubs. ft cannot bo claimed! that the commissioners liad exceeded Hveir duty, .for they would have laid a deep obligation on every sportsman worthy of the name if they had swept out of existence every .racing club in the dominion until such time a' "mokes" with a. decent amoiuit of stamina w*e>v-& sent to face tihe barrier. Partisans of the "sport of kinps" must be proud, of the exhibition at tJhe Dannevirke races, where the only essential for a horse to become a wiimer is to !>e able to stand on its legs long enough to last bhe race. lam slightly in error when T say there is only one essential. A horse must not become too wolbbly as in the case of the unworthy Glenmore, but it can wobble a little. A suggestion should: be put forward to the effect that the hurdles in future races (?) be lowered so that the noble 'animals, striving or other-. wi?*e to win gold for their partisans, will be aWe to walk over sticks with le%s exertion. Signing myself what T am and what I am proud to be.—Yours etc., A WOWSER.
