The central crater is furiously hurling rocks weigibing many tons to a considerable height. Lava is advancing at the rate of one hundred and twenty metres: an hour. One stream is five hundred metres Inoad. The railway is flooded and is impassable. A number of villas have beeai destroyed. Rain and ashes continue to fnll in Catania, and the estimated damage is £250,000. Crowds nf English and American tourists: *re ascending Etna.
