FESTIVITIES AT 3IUHUNOA EAST. An esteemed! correspondent sewls the following news from Mnhnnoa :— A very enjoyable evening was siji nt on Wednesday in the Muhun<"! East schoolroom, when Mr and M"--; Arthur Death celebrated their s : !ver-wedding. Between 60 and 70 guests were present. Dancing w started at o p.m. and was kept U|' until the small hours. Miss E > McLcavey kindly presided at t'l: - piano, awl delighted everyone w"'i her admirable performance. At 11 o'clock a first-class supper was se vd and ths> splendid wedding c rl ■? cut and handed round, after wl.ich Mr McLeavey congratulated the host and hostess in a- few well chose:! words, and wished them every nrospeiity an 1 happiness. He said he had known them for a number of years and spoke in high terms of the esteem in which they were ilreld both in this district and also in the Pahiatua district. Mr W. E. A\'up also thanked Mr and Mrs Death for their generous hospitality, wi'.iich he assured them their guests thoroughly appreciated. Mr Death responded in a few well chosen words and thanked the company on behalf of his wife and himself. At 2 a.m. a circle was formed and "Anld. Lang. Sviie'' and "For They Are- Joilly Good Fellows' were enthusiastically sung, after which the company dispersed having spent a most enjoy-' able evening. During the evening songs were admirably rendered by Miss Robertson, and Messrs Irvine, Stratton, L. Death. Matbieson, Archibald, Dean and Whitehead. A very com ft:-.table room was fitted'up as a card room and was fully occupied by non-dancers, where they could enjoy a comfortable smoke with, just a taste of "White McKay' to keep out t've cold. Mr and Mrs Death were tlio recipients of a largo number of handsome and valuable presents which ws a convincing proof of their popularity. A guest was her-d to remark that he considered that Mi ' Mv. De>ath wore a living r~ply in Hie relative, to the often <j- •■_• ■+'■:::: "Ir, marriage a failure?"
