At the saino time the anxiety felt in Australia and New Zealand was natural and justified. Ho did not think Franc© would he agreeable to snc'h an idea, and certainly the French in Tahiti would 1 not be. The group was fairly prosperous and as well administered under the French flag as it ever had been. trmt w 1 -
