AUCKLAND, August 12. The Auckland Tramway Union has resolved by 27!) votes to 17, to federate with'the New Zealand Federation of Labour, and cut J'reo from the Trades and Labour Council, which, it is understood, is tlio jyrcliminary to iti cancellation of _ its registration under tho Arbitration Act.
"Farmers and farm workers are not at present having a fair deal in competition with tho cheap land and sweated labour of Australia." With this comment Mr Buxton hns inquired of the Government whether it will take the necessary stops to safeguard the agricultural industries of the dominion by_ endeavouring to equalise the tariffs between Australia and Now Zealand on agricultural produce.
