[PIR PRESS ABaocu.Tlcm 1 (Received This Day. 9.10 a.m.J MARSEILLES, August 10. The Emir sank immediately. No English or American passengers were aboard. Most of those drowned were Moroccan labourers. The Silverston lowered three boats, but wasonlv able to save twelve of the Emir's crew and fifteen passengers vho wore on deck.

(Chronicle Note). —During a. fog the British steamer Silverston collided, with the French steamer Emir, near Tarifa. The later foundered and 24 of the crew and 69 passengers wero drowned.)
