Native Affairs.

Mr Field, M.P., recently asked the Native Minister, "When he purposes setting up ijhe promised count or other tribunal of inquiry, in conformity with the report of the Native Affairs Committee of last year, to investigate the claims of the Ngatitera and Ngatihaua.ria hapus of the Ngntitoa Tribe in respect of lands in the Pahaavtamii and Paokabariki districts?" The Minister's reply was:_ "There a.rs a. mrnibre of claims similar to this which are under consideration. If circumstances wart-ant further inquiry si Commission willl be set up to deal with the matter."
