Case of Lionel Terry.

Interviewed regarding the agitation for the release of Lionel Terry, a former governor of Lyftelton Mr M.Cleary, declared emphatically that Terry ought not to he at liberty, for he could not be trusted. While in gaol Terry was given special privileges, and was kindly treated, lint responded by abusing the w.irders. and trying on three occasions to burn down the gaol. Mr Geary and another gent lonian who is well acquainted with the prisoner, agree in the statement that Terry's antipathy to the Jewish race is almost as pronounced as his antipathy to the Chinese, and imply tint' this is an additional reason why the petition for his release should not 'he granted.
