THE MAORI TEAM
I Mr T. W. Parata. was in town yesterday on his way to Taihaoe in connection with his Maori football team. Some of the unions, but especially Horowhenua, have put him in rather a difficulty 'by refusing leave to men whom he. 4 desired to get owing to wanting to hold! them for their own competitions. In other cases some men have been unable t-o get away. He will again have a very fine set of backs, but thJe immediate difficulty is "hookers." Sellars is unable to travel this yelar, end Hia Hia was refused permission by Horowhenua, as were the Winiatas, who, however, were given' permission to go with the New Zealand Union country team. Hia Hia is now a resident of Linton, and so is within the jurisdiction of Manawatu.—Mannwatu Times.
