IJeef sold at advanced rates. . Stores sold well. Fat lambs were rather easier and prime fat sheep showed an advance, while medium and inferior sorts wore, easier. Fat pigs sold freely at late rates. Store cattle wore in rather better demand and good dairy cows sold well. There was a smaller yarding of store sheep than last week and was made up of nihonfc equal proportions of ewes and lioggets and a few pens of wethers. There was a good demand for hoggets and sound mouthed ewes and prices were a shado firmer. Aged ewes in lamb ialso sold well and wethers wore unchanged. The yarding of fat lambs was somewhat larger than last week, between 1000 and 1000 being penned, of which a. considerable proportion was unfinished. Prime lambs were somewhat easier as there was less competition for export, and oilier sorts were neglected. Prices ranged from 12s to 17s sd, and a sound lot up to 18s 9d.

There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep including a. fair proportion of prime wethers. There was ■a good demand for prime sheep for export, though competition was confin?.! to a few buyers. Prime wethers ami ewes were firmer by fully Is per head, but medium and light wethers declined about Is fid per hen'l in value and medium and inferior ewes wore also easier. The- supply of beef comprised 23G the bulk being of good to prime quality and included * some from t!:e North Island. There was n. keen demand, in consequence of the short yarding, and values advanced about 3s per 1001b over the previous week's rates. Prime beef s'il'l at 25s 6d-to 29s 6d, extra to 355. medium 22s to 255, and cow andinferior, which was in. shorter sup!>lv 19s to 21* ner 1(1011). Steers £7 to £11 10s, extra to £13 to £13 12s Gd. heifers £5 5s to £10 ss, find cows £o 5s to £8. Tire entry of fat pigs was under the jive-rage in numbers, and there was a fairly keen demand at firmer Mites.
