Tlio town of Cochrane, in tilio Porcupine (Alaska) mining district, has been destroyed by hush firos .spreading. Settlers a.vo fleeing from their homes and rain only wilJ save Por(•■upino mining c-auip. Oseada, a small town in A!ichignn, has been wiped out. Hero tlio lire started in the slab-yards, and the Ihi'ines spread to Ihe ad.iojiiing settlement, whore tho inhabitants escaped in a steamer. A relief (rain was wrecked. It is not known if there wero any fatalities. Forest Fires are onilnugering other towns.
