(Sir Eldon Gorst, w : lio recently resisned the position of British A*gent and Consul-General in Egypt, was bora in New Zealand in 1861, and was the eldest fon of the R.t. Hon. Sir John Gorst. He was educated latEton and Trinity College, Cambridge, and became attache in thie Diplomatic Service in 1885. For many years past he' has been intimately connected with 'affairs in Egypt, and ihas been Consul-General since 1907).
