NATIVE CHIEF'S FUNERAL.
rrKll PRBRP association 3 PAHTATTJA, .Inly 10. Iho body of Nireaha Tamaki, Maori chief. of Hamua, was interred yesterday. Rev. Father Delaeh, of Otaki, assisted by Bishop Redwood, Dean M'Kenna, of 'Masterton, and Father M'Kenna, Pahiatua, officiated at the. graveside. A very la re;© iMim'lier of .sympathisers from Pailiiatiia, Eketahuna, and the surrounding districts were present, including several tribes of natives from Levin, Ta ranaki, and elsewhere. Owing to Sir James Carroll being unable to attend, the Government was represented by Mr Sheridan, late of the Native Department. Deceased was well respected by evcrvone.
