A little girl, Norma Phillips, aged yenrs with her mother boarded tlie train at Te Karaka., Just prior to the train moving off Mrs Phillips rushed out of the carriago and on to the platform to recover a. parcel which she had forgotten. Her little daughter followed and just reached the outer platform of tilie carriage when the train commenced to move. The child was (thrown out on to the permanent way on the outside of the train and tho wheels passed over her neck almost severing the head from tho body. The child's mother was almost frantic with 'grief. The father recently drew a, Government section at Otoko and the family was a'bout to make it their home.
