(Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, Juno 8. At the Imperial Conference Mr Lewis Harcourt (Secretary for tbe Colonies) presided. He outlined a proposal for a standing committee to bridge the gap between Imperial Conferences. Mr Fisher, Sir Jcseph ■Ward, and Mr Hatehelor (Anstrnlasia) agreed that such niachinciry was needed, but General Hotha and Mr Ma.lan (Smith African) and Sir W. Lanrier (Canada) disagreed, r>roi'erring subsidiary conferences to consider special questions.
Mr Hareonrt said that while i<he discussion was informative, tho want of unanimity compelled him to withdraw bis proposal.
Sir Joseph Ward withdrew his resolution dealing with the reconstruction, of the Colonial" Office, but Sir Joseph's .motion favouring an interc'liango of visits between tilio Civil Servants of Great Britain and tiho dominions was carried.
