Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have been advised by cable from their London office, dated 26tli inst., that the May sales .have closed. The closing rates -are rather firmer than thoso ruling at the finish of the March series. Merino wools.—Greasy, part to r> per cent, lower; good to fine quality, scoured, a.re unchanged; medium and inferior qualities scoured, are o per cent, lower; short wool, faulty, scoured, 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, lower. Crossbred wools.—Greasy, fine quality, 5 per cent, lower; medium quality, par to 5 per cent, lower; coarse, par to 5 per cent, higher. Distribution. — The total nett quantity available amounted to 205,000" bales. 2000 bales were sold to America. 90,000 for Home consumption, 70,000 to Continent, 39,000 were carried forward. 25,000 bales were not offered in the sale. Hitchings, Han-kins and Co., Ltd., report on Thursday's salo as follows: —We offered a large catalogue, comprising: 1100 sheepskins, 310 'hides, 50 hales and fadges wool, 11 casks, find 30 tins tallow, and the usual quantity of bones and horns. Competition was keen for all lines, prices being about the same as last sale, and we wore able to quit the whole catalogue under the hammer. We quote as follows:— Wool.-Stragder fleece. 6£d, 6?d, 7d to 7 3 t d; lamb.?, 6Jd. 7d to 7}d ; dead, stl, 53d to fi?.d; crutohings, 33d, 4}d to scl; locks and pieces, 2}d, 3d to 33d. Sheepskins. — Crossbred medium, 6}d : coarse, skl to 0d ; inferior pelted, 4jd to 4§d; lambs. si}d to Bid; dead and damaged, to 4}d; crossbred damp, litrht. 2s 4d to 2s 0d; crossbred salted, 2s Ocl. 4s Id to -Is 7d : shorn lambs, Is lOd.
