HIGH- COMMISSIONER'S CARLE.
WELLINGTON, May 29. The High Commissioner's cabled market report, dated London 28h, is a-s follows :—
Mutton.—A 'better tone in the market this week; market firm, not withstanding largo receipts; holders firm. Canterbury is getting veny scarce at 3 13-IG<l per lb. North Island 3id.
Lain : b.—Market firm, with hardening tendency; large shipments arriving; general ajctivo demand. .Canterbury, 4:] d; other than Canterbury, 4id; Australian, 4d (very limited supply).
Beef.—Market quiet, with tendency in favour of buyors at about quotations already given. New Zealand fores, 2jjd; New Zealand hind.?, 3:} d. South American chilled is in large supply and selling at about same rates.
Butter.—'Market quiet, more small business doing. Runhine shipment arrived in good condition. Olioicest New Zealand. 105s; Siberian, 955: Australian, 98s 6d.
Cheese.—Market continues dull and has been unfavourably, affected by Canadian arrivals; buyers more reserved/and weak holders are giving way. New Zealand 58s. The Rmahine shipment ariived in good condition.
Hemp.—Market rruiet hut steady. New Zealand good fair spot £20 10s: fair grade, £19 10?. For-'Man-ila the market is firmer and has been favourably affected 'by improved American demand and! advanced sale prices; fair enraient Manila spot, £19 10s; forward shipment, £20 ss. The output from Manila for tho week was 200,000 bales.
Cocksfoot Reed.—Market very quiet; nothing , doing; sowing season, ended. Nominally bright clean Now Zealand, weighing 1711b, per bushel, 77s 6d. "
