Auckland Exposition.

Says the Wai pa Post:—" We offer our congratulations to citizens of Auckland in arranging to Hiold aai Exposition in. that city in the near future. There is a groat deal to be said in favour of these periodical exhibitions; they not only bring a number of people to the country, and thus advertise tlie resources and attractions we have to offer to settlers and tourists, but they swve a very educational purpose, and one of the best results obtained from them ie that they make known to the people who visit them tdie varied and manifold capabilities of .our dominion. New Zealand is only a small country, but it undoubtedly possesses many unique features, Aand it is to be deplored tbat many of these features have been .overlooked; and we are certain that very many of <onr own people have no idea of the extent of *hese resources, aaid it 'is only by holding such expositions, where tho wealth and diversity of product oan be shown, that the people become aware of the heritage they possess. \Yrcommend the foresight and wisdom of the originators of the project. and would offer a sniggestion that small but influential committees lie formed in the towns contiguous ic Auckland, whose business it sh i.l be to j>further the interests of 'be exposition and get ever} ,f body hit j> ested.J We are more than i.prisediat the opposition to the scheme; shown by Wellington. t .s puerile to say that because it is not being (held in that city the Government pust not give any assistance. We are glad to know that in this case ait all events the opinion ot the Empire City will not have any weiglii. There is no reason to question the success of the project, and, \jith. the new mail service to Vancouver and 'Frisco running, \va should! be able to attract a- host of visitors from both Canada aoid the United States."
