I From Mr John Kebboll we are in receipt of copies of the annual report of the inspectors of schools in the Wellington Educational Dis- ■ triet. and of the Board's annual report to the Minister for F/ducation. From the latter report we note with pleasure that la. high f standard of efficiency is being noted ' in the various High Schools of he district, and that tho increasing importance of a sound course in rural education is being widely recognised. We extract from the Board's report to the Minister for Education the following references to the District Hig,h Schools :-- "The average attendance of our nine District High Schools fell from 371 to 357. The reports show ,\ standard of high efficiency. 'Hie Hoard rceor:!s μ-itb satislaction the establishment of the rural course in •iMiection with five country DisL'icl High Schools Levin. Pahiatna. Masterton. Carterton, and Greymon-th- and at the Normal Sflio 1 !)! under the Department's regulations. This event marks n distinct advance in rural education. The measure of .success, which has attended the first year of its operations, is str:»ng evidence of the great care exorcised in the initial arrangements, and of the hearty cooperation and t'ie ability of the staffs engaged in the work. The ';■. a;:-t.< i'.iade and capitation earned have enalilwl the Board t-o establish the course, ms regards both equipment and instruction, on a footing which .should insure its success. The Inspectors , suggestions for the improvement of the course will, no doubt, receive the attention their importance merits.
